Interactivity and E-Commerce Website Designing

Some of the important points to remember while designing an e-commerce website is that the site is different from other regulars websites and hence has to be very interactive because visitors do not just come and browse in an online shop. They will want to communicate, buy, pay, comment, etc.

The four different modules that an ecommerce site must have are,
  • Shopping cart
  • Product database management system
  • CRM- Customer Relationship Management
  • Integration with a third party
The shopping cart can be used to just select a product and proceed to checkout. Or one can also design it such as to incorporate further features like, managing discounts, promotions and also management of all calculations etc. While designing the shopping do make it attractive and very easy for customers to use and they must be able to save their cart for future. An easy checkout process is also very important for the success of the site. While designing the website one has the option of either using readymade software based shopping carts, or design a customized new cart exclusively for our website.

As people buy the products management of all product is also a very important module and can be quite complex depending on the features of the website. Similarly one of the sure ways to enhance the customer experience of the customer is to have a good CRM module that enables features like, help desk, news letter, customer feedback, updating etc.

An ecommerce website can be integrated with different third parties who can be experts either
in credit checking, address checking, credit card gateway, or in providing logistics.
