KPO/LPO and Legal Outsourcing

KPO (Knowledge Process Outsourcing) and LPO (Legal Process Outsourcing) are two buzzwords of today after BPO (Business Process Outsourcing) started taking the global business world by storm few years ago.

Outsourcing to countries like India started with the BPO services where only back office works like general transcription and data entry were outsourced by the western countries especially the US, Canada, The UK, and Australia. They found that certain lower wage Asian countries could conveniently handle all their back office works for a much lesser price. Besides escaping from the hassles of monotonous jobs, cost affectivity and huge savings were the chief motivators for outsourcing to countries like India and the Philippines.

Today the emerging KPO sector involves knowledge based services and not just the routine clerical jobs. With the vast pool of professionals like lawyers, doctors, engineers and accountants in countries like India, the global KPO industry is believed to go beyond 15 billion dollars by 2010.

LPO is the most ideal knowledge process outsourcing that involves outsourcing of specialized legal works like, litigation support, legal research, and legal animation. Legal consultation charges with lawyers are believed to be 80% lesser in India when compared to that in the US.

Specialized data entry jobs like data mining, and KPP (knowledge discovery and Data mining) are also fast growing KPO service industries of the future. So also the web development services like Website designing.

However a note of caution! One has to be choosy in outsourcing as the experience and reliability of the provider has to be considered. It is best to get a sample trial work done and access the quality of work before signing any long term deals.
